Leon was tired. He found himself within the comforts of his mom’s hotel room, a perk given to her as the hotel’s executive director. He laid on the huge comfortable bed and stared at the ceiling. The events of the day left him fighting with his inner demons, something he had kept at bay all his young adult life. He discovered his preference for men a long time ago but never involved himself in a relationship. It was something he didn’t have time to dwell on, so much so, expose himself to the confusion of such a complicated situation.
Jonah was the closest, if he considered delving into an affair, but he was more of a dear friend, if anything. He knew his best friend was interested in him but Leon, for the sake of his mother’s public standing, he didn’t dare cause any heartaches come her way. He didn’t think his mother disapproved of his preference but as his only son, he knew his responsibility to carry on the family name.
He closed his eyes trying to silence his thoughts but it only replayed the events of the day and now Trayne haunted him in his solace. He couldn’t believe how another man could overwhelm him in just a matter of three encounters. He vividly saw his brown eyes, the magnetism he had on him, just gazing into the window to his soul, he’s captured and his whole being lost. He didn’t think he was bad. The circumstance of their meeting looked bad but felt wonderful inside. The flipping feeling, the electricity of the physical contact, he never felt this excited before.
Jonah’s phone buzzed in his pants pocket, pulling Leon out of his thoughts. He fished out the unit to answer the call.
“Yes?” Leon answered, eyes closed, he hoped for some quiet sleep will soon take over.
“Where are you?” Jonah’s voice sounded worried. “You‘re holding my phone hostage.”
“At mom’s room, I’m trying to rest.” Leon sassy in his response. “Want to have dinner here, you owe me.”
Jonah smiled. “I’ll be there in an hour. I have a store to run you know. I’m glad you’re ok. Get some rest.”
“Ok. Order out please, the kitchen is busy this evening.” Leon yawned, his eyes getting heavy. “I’ll call the Front Desk to give you a key card. Wake me up when you get in please.” Leon asked.
“Sounds like a plan. What do you want to eat or should I order for you, my sweet?” Jonah teased.
“Don’t call me that, Fool!” Leon joked. “Surprise me. You’re just as sweet. Thanks.” Leon smiled.
“You know I will always be here for you, anytime. Count on it. Get some sleep love.” Jonah kindly stated. Leon heard the click ending their call. He shook his head, replaying Jonah’s words. It’s true he can rely on him for everything. If he was to picture Jonah differently, he could be his noble knight saving him from his demons. But then again that will only mean hurting his friend in the end.
He sat up and reached for the hotel phone and pressed zero.
“Hey girl, what’s up?” Leon greeted the Front Desk clerk at the end of the line. “I know you’re busy. But fave for me? Jonah needs a key pass to mom’s room. He ordered dinner for me. Please hon. Thanks. I’ll call her now. Bye.” Leon cleared the line and pressed his mom’s office extension which was picked up by her assistant.
“Lillie, where’s mom?” Leon inquired. The secretary reported his mom was in a meeting. “She can call me at Jonah’s cell if she needs me.” Leon placed the phone back on the stand. He dropped back on the bed, closed his eyes and drifted to sleep.
