oOo
When you look at me
Tell me what do you see?
Are these the eyes of someone
You could love?
Cause everything that brought me here
Well, not it all seems so clear
You’re the one that I’ve been dreaming of
If anyone can make me fall in love,
You can.

Fuji wandered through the aisles of books, not really searching for anything in particular. He was at the bookstore to kill time. He should’ve gone to the university studio and work on some more projects but he was already way ahead his class in meeting his project deadlines. He tried staying home but after a couple hours of cleaning around the apartment, reading, surfing the internet, talking to his cacti plants, he was at his wits end. He didn’t want to complain but lately, Tezuka has been too busy with school, tennis and work. He realized now how Tezuka felt when he was the unavailable one because Fuji, himself, was going crazy.
Their calendar at home was once again marked with no promised day together till the end of the month. So far the 28th was an open date for both of them, but with Tezuka’s work schedule, it was not a guaranteed time off. Valentine’s Day had come and gone, they exchanged ‘I love you’ and kissed before heading out the door to attend to their separate schedules. They didn’t expect anything from the other, the 14th of February was not a day of great importance for them, well being men of course. Lucky enough it fell on the weekend, but somehow Fuji wondered, it’s a day for lovers and they did fall under that category.
Three days passed, Tezuka’s scant availability was now a bother, which would explain Fuji’s presence at the bookstore where Tezuka works. He wasn’t planning on anything or to draw attention from the working student. He simply would grab a book, order a cup of his favorite latte, quietly settle in at a hidden corner of the coffee shop and read. The coffee shop in the bookstore was known for very good coffee and desserts, the apple tart was Fuji’s favorite. His plan was to call Tezuka during the last hour of his work and invite him for a late treat. His favored Queen Anne leather chair was set at a secluded corner and Tezuka wouldn’t even know he was waiting there for him.
The café was busy, for a Tuesday night, bustling with mostly female shoppers. The quiet squeals and giggles came from one particular table occupied by five females, students or working women, he wasn’t sure. The occupants of that table were watching one particular bookstore employee behind the customer service counter, located at the center of the bookstore, just about twelve feet away from the coffee shop entrance.
Fuji turned to check who captured the table’s main interest and noticed right away the person behind the counter. The messy brown hair, rimless glasses, tall slim physique, no doubt, the women were ogling over his Kunimitsu. He smiled as he watched Tezuka busily attending to a pretty looking female, the rest of the women at the table seemed to be interested as well. Tezuka with his serious face but gentle demeanor, without fail, captures every female interest he comes in contact with. Fuji wasn't jealous. He was confident enough of their relationship, a group of googley eyed women didn't pose one bit of threat.
The female handed something to Tezuka and bowed before she quickly scurried towards the café and to the table of giggling women.
‘Oh this should be interesting,’ Fuji whispered to himself.
He found another leather chair closer to the table but situated in a more open area, unlike the current spot he settled in. He looked over the service counter and it bustled with customers, he didn’t think Tezuka would notice him there. Fuji decided to make his move while the spot was still unoccupied. The women's table was behind him now and with the chair facing a wall of books, Fuji was obscured from Tezuka’s view.
“His nameplate says Tezuka K., he won’t give me his first name,” the excited female reported to the other women, “he didn’t think it was important.”
“He's so sexy, the way he kept his eyes at you when he spoke,” another female stated, “he is surely interested. What did he do with the note you gave him? Did anyone see where he placed it?”
“I didn’t, I left right after he told me to enjoy my evening,” the female who had spoken with Tezuka reported, “he thanked me after I handed him the note but didn’t ask about it, is that good?”
“I didn’t see him throw anything away,” another female stated, “but did you ask him to join us during his break? He should be off in a couple minutes or so.”
“He didn’t respond to that, he just said thank you,” the female sadly reported.
“Well, he usually stays at the café during his break. We’ll just invite him then.”
Fuji was amused upon hearing the conversation and how excited the women were just watching Tezuka from a distance. The women probably stalked Tezuka before, or even each time he was at work since they knew his break schedule and where he went during his break.
“Hmm Tezuka never mentioned anything about females stalking him at work,” he muttered quietly, “Oh well, it’s not something important, I suppose.’
He’s the object of the man’s affection and he shouldn’t pry into women’s conversation.
Fuji decided to return to his favorite Queen Anne chair located at the far corner of the cafe. He lithely moved to his favored spot, without noticing a set of hazel brown eyes watching him from the service counter. He adjusted the dim light before he lounged back on the comfortable chair. He sipped his latte and quite satisfied with it, opened the book and resumed his reading.
He just finished perusing the first chapter of the book when he felt his cell phone vibrating. Tezuka’s picture appeared on the screen and automatically made the blue eyed man smile.
“Hi,” Fuji answered while he gazed at Tezuka from across the floor.
“How long are you going to hide over there,” Tezuka asked, his hazel brown eyes focused on Fuji as he walked towards his location.
“And I thought I was being discreet,” Fuji responded, “well Kunimitsu, I 'm picking you up from work.” He smiled at the approaching man, although his silhouette was all others could see from where he sat.
“One second, Syuusuke,” Tezuka excused himself before disconnecting the call. Fuji curiously watched Tezuka from his seat.
The taller man stopped by the table of the ogling women. He paused to nod at the female he spoke with earlier before returning the note, “Thank you for your kind offer, but someone already captured my heart.”
Tezuka bowed before he walked away. Six pairs of saddened, surprised eyes followed him as he walked towards Fuji's location.
“Well I’m impressed, six hearts broken in one night,” Fuji’s eyes glimmered like precious blue gems. The hazel brown eyes sparkled. A hint of a smile curved on Tezuka’s lips which within seconds met Fuji’s unsuspecting lips.
“I only have my eyes set on you,” Tezuka whispered, “shall we go?” The taller man straightened himself as he waited for Fuji.
“Are you done?” Fuji queried in surprise, somehow Tezuka’s kiss caught him off guard.
“The moment you entered the bookstore,” Tezuka announced, keeping his eyes on the surprised man.
Suddenly Fuji couldn’t help but blush, Tezuka managed to tilt him off-balanced and his heart fluttered like crazy. “I was going to surprise you,” Fuji explained.
“You did,” Tezuka responded, “and I didn’t want to wait any longer.”
Fuji stood up and within seconds he heard grunts of disapproval from the table of women. He sighed as he fought the urge to throw icy glares at each of the complaining women. The taller man gently tilted Fuji’s chin to capture his attention.
“No need for that,” Tezuka interjected.
Fuji closed his eyes and nodded, “Let’s go then Mr. Heart Breaker.”
“Can’t blame me," Tezuka smiled, glancing warmly at the honey-haired man, "this was all your doing.”
Fuji smiled back. He gazed at the hazel brown eyes focused on him, “Yeah, I know.”
While they walked out of the café, Fuji noticed the taller man beaming happily. He was glad to know that he's the one who made Tezuka feel that way.
