Summary: Angelique struggles to embrace her calling.

“When you return from the Holy Land, none of your friends will be around.”

Angelique lingered on the message passed to her by Rene, the newly crowned leader of the Silver Knights. In order to save Arcadia from Erebos, she must become the Queen and accept the responsibility of her position. The position called for her to live a solitary life at the Holy Land, away from her friends, her family, from the land she loved.

“I lived alone all my life, why now?” she whispered. Tears trickled down her cheeks, the weight of her calling was now heavy in her heart.

“I don’t want to leave alone anymore,” she cried.

Angelique wondered how Nyx-sama managed to survive for 200 years, living such a long life on this earth, without his family. He left his friends behind once they grew older while he remained young.

“When you become Queen, please give me a peaceful death,” she recalled his words.

If she could somehow find a way to separate Erebos from her friend’s heart, would he continue to live?

“I searched for you through these years, you were my only salvation,” Nyx confessed to her, the kindness in his eyes were real. The man who uttered those words suffered all his life and waited for her, despite knowing she would be his angel of death.

“No,” Angelique mouthed her disapproval, “I will save you Nyx-sama.”

Realizing how her own suffering could become her sempai’s redemption, as well as Arcadia’s last resort, saving mankind by embracing her calling and impending life of solitude didn’t scare her away anymore. She smiled upon realizing why, “Nyx-sama,”

“Noblesse oblige,” Angelique sighed, “why did you have to impose such responsibility on me?”

Although the tears blurred her vision, her sight of the promised peace was clearly focused. Her love for Arcadia, for her friends welled in her heart. She sensed her confidence growing and thoughts of woe slowly dissipating.
