He should not be surprised. Fuji stared at his confounded Kunimitsu, staring at the stack of black envelopes on the table. He kept his peculiar holiday grin in place, but Fuji couldn’t help to have a slight hint of unease when his beloved’s frustrated look zoomed at him.
“Kunimitsu?” he asked.
“Syuusuke,” Tezuka replied, pointing at the tower of black envelopes, “I think the red envelope would be more appropriate for a holiday card.
Fuji’s smile widened, cerulean eyes glinting at Tezuka, “I am sending two different cards this year,” he announced. He waited for the taller man’s response, but he didn’t notice any other hints of frustration or irritation in the bespectacled man’s face. He wondered if he should worry about that.
“Ah,” Tezuka uttered, “Show me.”
Fuji noted the lowered tone in Tezuka’s voice and as he expected his Kunimitsu was already showing hints of disapproval. He handed the card he just finished, smiling sweetly at Tezuka, “Remember, it’s all about sharing our love.”
The taller man took the offered card and stared at his drawn figure, “Black suit, red tie,” he stated. He glared at Fuji for a second, who kept still with such a sweet smile, his blue eyes ogling him looked like sparkling sapphires. He read the message inscribed mentally,
‘All I want for Christmas is…’
He glanced at Fuji once more. The sweet smile didn’t seem that cute anymore, more like sinister and cunning he thought to himself. He recalled the notes he earlier read from Fuji’s art book. He couldn’t help but wish that he could scream at this wicked person whom he loves so much. He opened the card, and as he expected, an image of the honey-haired man with a Santa hat greeted him, and his beloved’s name inscribed beautifully,
‘Fuji Syuusuke’
Tezuka shook his head, handing the card back to the sweetly smiling man. He stared at the quantity of black envelopes, already sealed, stamped and marked with the recipient’s name and address. His poker face broke a smile upon reading the name on the top of the stack. He figured as much Fuji just couldn’t let go of his impishness during the holiday season.
“Atobe, ha?” Tezuka noted. “Who are the other lucky ones on your “black” list?
“Be nice,” Fuji pouted, handing him the so called “black” list.
“Echizen, Shiraishi, Niou, Sanada…,” scanning through the list, Tezuka smirked seeing the listed names were former tennis rivals they met during their middle school days and since then, they formed a strong bond through the years.
Fuji grinned in a way a mischievous elf would when his dastard plan finally realized. He moved from his seated spot and approached the taller man, embracing Tezuka warmly.
“Just keeping up with the holiday spirit Kunimitsu,” Fuji began to explain, “give love on Christmas Day,” tunefully reminding the taller man. He gazed at the hazel-brown eyes behind the rimless glasses, caressing the warm cheeks and slowly leaning towards the stoic for a kiss.
“It’s better than coal,” he explained further, batting his eyes before showing his effervescent smile.
Tezuka sighed, shaking his head once more. He thought about rolling his eyes as well, but that would only make his impish boyfriend enjoy his frustration. It was clearly out of his hands. Fuji has his twisted sense of keeping their friends amused, and as the honey-haired man explained, a message of love, something pure and coming from his heart.
Deep inside, Tezuka’s happiness overflowed.
‘I guess it’s better than coal indeed,’ he repeated in his mind.
“Can’t be helped,” Tezuka surrendered to Fuji’s holiday wisdom.
He leaned down responding to his lover’s kiss, claiming the lips of his impish lover, a kiss Tezuka was sure would make Fuji think of nothing else but him for the rest of the night. He heard the sultry moan, like a switch, it never fails to send shivers throughout his body.
Fuji responded to his passionate assault and held on to him closer. Tezuka felt the smile on Fuji’s lips, stopping him from his kissing frenzy. He saw the twinkle in Fuji’s eyes. Tezuka wondered about the thoughts playing in his lover’s mind.
“I did good,” Fuji whispered playfully.
Tezuka smiled, “Always.”
