A/N: AU- Tezuka and Fuji are Tokyo University students and share an apartment together. A snapshot of their life together, sharing moments to make memories.
Memory: No kiss for you! Have cake! Happy Birthday Atobe!
Fuji attempted to stare at the man standing outside in the hallway so early in the morning. The visitor already fashionably clothed in expensive designer wear. The bright aura emanating from the early morning caller hurt Fuji’s eyes, which he couldn’t fully open from being suddenly roused out of his sleep. Fuji’s class didn’t start until after noon, and he planned on sleeping in after Tezuka kept him awake so late last night.
“What are you doing here?” he asked with obvious displeasure.
The unexpected caller combed his long hair to the side and gave Fuji a haughty smile.
“You didn’t call nor did I receive a greeting in the mail Fuji,” the visitor said, “Tezuka told me you have a card for my birthday, and I want it!”
“It’s seven in the morning. You couldn’t wait until maybe noon or something to be a nuisance?”
“Oresama does not wait, especially on his birthday!” Atobe announced pompously.
“You look like a peacock in heat,” Fuji stated as he pushed the door open wide to allow Atobe in the apartment. “Happy Birthday, by the way,” he continued as he slowly walked away from the entrance without waiting for Atobe to enter.
“That’s all I get?” Atobe complained. “I deserve more than that!” Atobe demanded as he entered the apartment and closed the door behind him.
Fuji halted, rolled his sleepy eyes before facing his early morning caller. “ You have to wait for Tezuka's returns to get your present Atobe. I guess I can offer you some tea, since I need it to wake up.”
Fuji noticed his visitor intently focused on him. One brow raised up so high with purple eyes insultingly gleaming. The smirk on Atobe’s lips annoyed him more, Atobe saw something he didn’t need to know. He couldn’t wait for Tezuka to return from his morning jog.
“Mind your own business Atobe!” Fuji warned.
“Fuji…Fuji…Fuji,” Atobe closed his eyes, quite amused. “Those lips of yours, still swollen from what appears like an all-night tryst, should utter only nice words. Sweet kind words that sound like a kiss.”
Blue eyes darkened as it shot an icy glare, a cold smile slowly curved on Fuji’s lips. “You got stood up this morning weren’t ya?”
“Tezuka canceled since he was too exhausted from making love with you all night.”
“Nice try, but I don’t think so,” Fuji answered.
“Tezuka promised a birthday kiss, but he said you won’t kiss him anymore if he made good his promise.”
“Try again, but if he did so, it’s more like you’ll never get to kiss anyone at all,” Fuji respected his lover’s friendship with Atobe, and he wouldn’t lose from his banter.
“Oishtari couldn’t make it back in time to celebrate my birthday,” stated flatly as he sat dejectedly on the sofa.
“Bingo!” Fuji silently replied.
“Kabaji is home sick with strep and Jirou…” Atobe paused, releasing a heavy sigh. “Jirou overslept and missed his flight.”
Fuji sniggered, “That’s Akutagawa alright! Send your private jet or something to pick them up.”
“Fuji, I may be the epitome of wealth, but I’m not irresponsible. Hard times hit people like me too!” Atobe stated haughtily.
“Hmmm? This must be such a depressing time for you,” Fuji ironically remarked.
“Ah yes,” Atobe pretentiously sounding lowly, “Ore-sama left alone on his birthday is a very sad, sad situation.”
Fuji couldn’t believe the drama he was pulled into and wondered why he had to deal with Atobe so early this morning. Despite the diva’s over the top mannerisms, Atobe could be amusing. It’s his birthday. He figured he’d allow Atobe flaunt his foolishness. He could handle him until Tezuka returns.
“I guess I can offer you a slice of heaven with a cup of tea,” Fuji announced as he crossed the room towards the kitchen.
“Hmmm, are you offering yourself to me?” Atobe seductively asked.
“You wish?” the honey-haired man rolled his eyes, rethinking his previous thoughts about having Atobe in his apartment. “Double chocolate cake, the best ever made if I may say so. You want some or not? ”
Ore-sama sighed heavily once more, “I prefer a kiss, but I guess your offering would be the next best thing.”
“GIVE IT UP KEIGO!”
The stern voice coming from the apartment’s entrance area announced Tezuka’s return. The tennis player appeared dressed in his fleece running gear, messy sweat damped hair with slightly pinkish cheeks.
“Ah you’re quite a sight to see in the morning. Fuji is such a lucky man to see you like this every day,” Atobe stated admiringly.
“Why are you here so early in the morning?” the athlete queried.
“No Happy Birthday Keigo?”
“Happy Birthday Keigo,” Tezuka greeted flatly, “You are too early.”
“I know and I woke Fuji too,” Atobe announced proudly, “He’s not pleased either, but it’s my birthday.”
Tezuka stared at his friend. He was glad Fuji understood Atobe and no longer worried about him. It took him years to get used to his uncouth, sometimes over-bearing attitude. But Atobe is Atobe and accepting him for what he is made their friendship grow through the years.
“I asked for a kiss, but he refused,” Atobe announced. “I’m having cake instead.”
“Take the cake. Give up on the kiss. You’ll never get it,” a sweet voice declared. Both Atobe and Tezuka turned towards the kitchen entrance where Fuji stood with a tray of cake and tea. He smiled at Tezuka, as he walked towards him. He paused before the taller man and gave him a kiss. Tezuka met his boyfriend’s lips and kissed him back.
“Unfair! I’m the birthday boy. I should be the one getting kissed!” Atobe demanded.
“YOU GET THE CAKE!” Tezuka and Fuji replied at the same time.
