A/N: AU- Tezuka and Fuji are Tokyo University students and share an apartment together. A snapshot of their life together, sharing moments to make memories.
When Tezuka returned from his morning tennis practice, he didn’t expect Fuji in his tight black leather pants with a thick bushy fox-tail dangling from his behind. He wore a fuzzy hat with fox ears and his hair tinted with yellow, orange, and red, which matched the colors of his bushy tail. A pair of long pawed mittens made with the same material as his hat ears and bushy tail, hanged over his left shoulder while Fuji worked on his cup of tea.
Tezuka remained quiet for a moment, feasting his eyes viewing the round cheeks of Fuji’s ass, snuggled firmly in his tight pants.
“I guess you like what you’re eyeing, just now?” Fuji asked without turning, but swayed his derrière so his bushy tail would swing from behind.
“Ah,” Tezuka confirmed. He padded towards the kitchen where Fuji stood and Tezuka wrapped his arms around the smaller man’s waist. “What’s up with the bushy tail?”
Fuji gently turned around to face Tezuka. Tezuka stepped away abruptly, staring at Fuji’s face with wide eyes filled with fearful surprise. Fuji’s face painted in what seemed like pumpkin orange with jagged black wedges bordering his face. His eyes were no longer the familiar cerulean blues but golden spiraling yellow with red that look like strobes of dancing fire. Tezuka’s heart pounded nervously, suddenly images of short orange men formed in his mind. Oompaloompas from the Willy Wonka movie, and his face turned pale.
“Kunimitsu?” Fuji blurted, stepping forward to touch the taller man but Tezuka stepped backed and turned away. “Are you alright?” Fuji asked following Tezuka to the living room.
“Syuusuke, please give me a second.” Tezuka replied quickly before disappearing into their bedroom.
Fuji was baffled by Tezuka’s reaction. He’d never saw Tezuka frightened like the way he reacted just now. Fuji wondered what could have caused Tezuka to be scared out of his wits.
He padded quickly towards their bedroom. He reached for the door knob to open the door but Fuji hesitated and opted to knock on the door instead.
“Kunimitsu, can I come in?” Fuji softly asked.
The silence was heavy. Fuji stood by the door and patiently waited. A few minutes passed and the door knob turned and the door creaked open. Tezuka stepped out of the room, his head down and eyes closed.
“I’m sorry to react so childishly, Syuusuke.” Tezuka stated reluctantly.
“You dashed away like a scared cat." Fuji cupped Tezuka’s cheeks gently, “Am I so horrifying to look at?”
Tezuka shook his head, but still avoiding looking at Fuji’s face and then with a heavy sigh he nodded embarrassingly. “You caught me by surprise, and I just had this recollection of something unnerving that bothered me when I was very young.” Tezuka confessed.
“What was it, may I ask?” Fuji inquired, feeling guilty about scaring Tezuka so badly. “I didn’t intend to scare you. I'm sorry.” Fuji turned away from Tezuka's view “Let me go and wash the paint off my face and remove the contact lenses.”
Tezuka opened his eyes and looked at Fuji’s back. “Face me please?” Tezuka asked, reaching for Fuji and slowly prodded him to turn around. Tezuka studied the orange painted face with curved black wedges and the spiraling inferno in Fuji’s eyes. It really was not scary looking at all. Tezuka smiled warmly, “You're looking gorgeous, foxy Syuusuke!”
Fuji sighed in relief, beaming a sweet smile at Tezuka, “So what was it that terrified you when you were young? He queried with curiosity dancing in his burning eyes. “Why have I not known about this? We grew up together?”
“That my foxy one would be information I shall never divulge.” Tezuka walked passed Fuji and headed towards the kitchen to grab a cold drink of water. He may have quickly recovered from his childhood trauma but to let Fuji aware of his most hidden fear was like feeding his soul to the wolves. He just didn’t want Fuji to make fun of his utterly ridiculous fear of short orange people. He thought he would have the same reaction towards the Smurfs, but he actually found the blue ones amusing. He couldn’t figure out, to this day, why he had such a startling reaction with the orange kind.
“You don’t trust me?” Fuji asked. Tezuka was about to take a swig of cold water but stopped thinking for a moment. Fuji noticed how Tezuka hesitated and widened his eyes in surprise. “I can’t believe you Kunimitsu! You actually won’t tell me!” Fuji complained.
Tezuka turned to face Fuji. “Certain things are better left unsaid, Syuusuke.” He replied, failing to find other explanations to make Fuji understand.
“Shared you mean. In other words, I am not trustworthy enough to know?” Fuji asserted. A frown knotted as Fuji closed his eyes, and dawned on a forced smile.
Tezuka saw the hurt in Fuji’s expression. “Syuusuke.”
Without waiting, Fuji waved his hand at Tezuka with obvious frustration, “I don’t want to know anything you’re not comfortable to share with me.” Fuji walked away, grabbed his back-pack from the dining table and began to put on the furry fox mittens. “I’m going to class, Kunimitsu.”
“Wait a second,” Tezuka was already right behind Fuji and grabbed his hand. “I do trust you." Tezuka stated, facing Fuji as he held both his hands in his. His reluctance still gravely etched in his face. His eyes bared a childish look of helplessness.
Fuji warmly smiled at Tezuka, “I’m the one who will always be here for you.”
“Okay, without saying much but telling it all,” Tezuka offered his roundabout confession, “I never liked the Willy Wonka movie.” Tezuka waited for Fuji’s teasing laughter or chide remark but there was no response. He gazed at Fuji, who was looking at him with confusion painted in his golden eyes.
“You’re scared of the Oompaloompas!” Fuji blurted suddenly, dropping his backpack on the carpeted floor.
“I knew it! You are going to make fun of me now!” Tezuka confirmed his suspicions. He just fed himself to a wolf! Tezuka let go of his hold on Fuji and left him standing as he sat at his favorite corner on the sofa. Fuji followed him and kneeled down on the floor in front of Tezuka and held his hands.
“Your secret is mine, as well, and we’re definitely banning Willy Wonka from our home!” Fuji stated with a smile.
“Thank you.” Tezuka sighed in relief.
“Can I ask you something?” Fuji queried as he gently kneaded Tezuka’s hands with his furry paws.
“Ah,” he replied.
“Should I also ban the smurfs?”
Tezuka shook his head.
“How about the Hulk? The Grinch, anything green?”
Tezuka shook his head once more. “I am amusing you with my weakness.”
“What can I do to make it up to you Kunimitsu?”
Tezuka began to pull the mittens off Fuji’s hands and smiled. “I think something red will look good on you.”
Fuji glinted at him. The golden eyes dazzled before Tezuka, “Hmmm? You still want your fantasy fulfilled.”
“Who knows, red just might cure my trauma over short orange people,” Tezuka answered naughtily.
“Oh so I should paint myself red?” Fuji bantered.
Tezuka shook his head again, “No need for that, just wearing something sparkling red.” His hazel eyes darkened as he continued with his teasing. “You could keep the hat with foxy ears and your bushy tail.”
Fuji beamed a smile so sweet, Tezuka couldn’t help but groan.
“I love it when I can cure you of your weakness,” Fuji purred, slowly climbing up to sit on Tezuka’s lap. “This fox will do anything for you.” Fuji cupped Tezuka’s face with his hands and kissed him.

Fuji opened his eyes suddenly, his vision blurry from sleep. Tezuka laid next to him, still sleeping, his silky mess of hair draping his closed eyes. He could hear the soft snore as he breathe, the sound like a sweet purr. Gently, he raked his fingers through his boyfriend’s hair, pushing the strands away from his face. Tezuka’s sleeping face looked so innocent and boyish. Fuji smiled happily. He couldn’t believe he dreamt something so out of this world. He moved closer to Tezuka to feel the warmth from his body. Tezuka didn’t awaken but wrapped his arm over Fuji’s body and planted a kiss on his forehead.
“Stay, sleep a little bit longer my foxy Syuusuke,” Tezuka whispered dreamily.
Fuji gazed at his sleeping boyfriend dumbfounded, unsure if he didn't dream anything at all.
He whispered, “Oompaloompas.”
Tezuka groaned. “Chocolates.”
Fuji closed his eyes and went back to sleep, thankful it was but a dream after all.
