“You need to stop this,” the Earl ordered.
Selkie smirked, amused than ashamed for getting caught in the middle of his blatant intrusion.
“Well, well, well,” the sprite began his awkward response, “I thought I could get away with it.”

Selkie slumped down his broad shoulders as he propped himself on the settee by the window, the smirk gone from his handsome face. “I know that,” he replied, “even in her dreams, she thinks of no one but you.” The fairy’s dark eyes showed his dejection as he spoke and frowned upon seeing Edward beamingly smile at his reply.
Selkie wasn’t angry or jealous anymore, but didn’t hide his frustration. The sprite loved the fairy doctor and kept his hopes for a possible future with her but seeing the reality of her resolute affection for the Earl, Selkie accepted his defeat.
“You could visit when she’s awake,” Edward responded kindly, “I think
