Title: To See His Smile

Word Count: 626 words.
Summary: Hiroki’s simple gesture that made Nowaki smile. Hiroki chose to volunteer his Sunday mornings at the senior ward in the hospital. He spent a good two hours visiting the infirmed seniors and he would read for them. At first he only used it as an excuse to be in the hospital while Nowaki finished his shift and they would leave the facility together. It was a way for Hiroki to let Nowaki’s sempai know that the tall handsome simple-minded Nowaki belonged to him. But after four weekends of spending time with the seniors in the infirmary, Hiroki truly enjoyed every minute he spent reading for them, helping out with writing their letters or journals or simply engaging them in conversation. Hiroki didn’t think he would have the nerve, more so the patience to deal with the old people but he surprised himself. The room was filled with past knowledge and history he himself learned so much from his interaction. The most gratuitous result from spending time with the kind hearted seniors was Hiroki softened up and learned how to open up his heart and understand others. Of course, Nowaki was first to notice the change in his comportment, he didn’t think it would’ve matter to anyone except to himself. But aside from Nowaki, the students in his classes, the other professors, and even his friend Akihiko was impressed. Nowaki was not pleased with Hiro sharing that latter information. Hiroki just realized now what a jealous man his Nowaki could turn into but his jelousy meant the younger medical student loved him with all his heart. He sighed, wondering if he should just stay as his usual grumpy self. Nowaki would still find him adoring despite his faults. However, he liked the happy feeling growing in his heart each time Nowaki’s brightened at noticing new changes in him. They are a couple living together over six years now and together they’ve grown to learn and accept each other despite their faults, quirks and nuances. To him Nowaki was too much of a simple-minded man and his simplicity drove him crazy. Hiroki, on the other hand, was aware of his pig headedness and pomposity could easily drill a hole in the simple man’s heart. Yet, Nowaki sucked it, all in all these years and worked very hard to make a difference in his life. Hiroki smiled, it was his turn to return the kindness and love his Nowaki showered him all these years. The university professor decided to leave half an hour earlier this fine Saturday morning and planned something special for Nowaki. His cellphone beeped announcing the incoming call. “Nowaki-kun, is something wrong?” Hiroki asked right away. There was nothing but silence. “Hello, Nowaki-kun?” Hiroki called, sounding a little concerned, “are you still there?” “Ah, sorry about that,” Nowaki answered, sounding confused, “Hi-hiro-san…” Hiroki hesitated and waited for Nowaki to tell him something but the silence remained and despite his efforts to qualm his haughtiness, Nowaki was becoming annoying. “Oy Nowaki-kun, do you want to tell me something or are you going to just breathe heavily on the phone like some sex predator,” Hiroki interjected. “I’m sorry Hiro-san,” Nowaki spoke, “I was just caught dumb-founded when I heard your voice and…” Once again a pause, Hiroki was now gritting his teeth to stop himself from blowing up. “You called me Nowaki-kun,” the medical student whispered, “I am so happy.” Hiroki stopped from walking and sighed. He couldn’t help but smile because he didn’t realized it himself until his lover told him but he was glad, such simple gesture meant a difference to his Nowaki. “Nowaki-kun has officially turned into an idiot,” Hiroki teased, “my loving idiot.” “Hiro-san.” Hiroki smiled, he pictured the huge smile on Nowaki’s face, the smile that he longed to see everyday.

But I will try to post whenever I could - fics that is - since I really don't do memes or rl posts in lj. as you would notice rj stuff you could read on my post comment replies.
