Title: Unexpected Revelation

A/N: AU- Tezuka and Fuji are Tokyo University students and share an apartment together. A snapshot of their life together, sharing moments to make memories.
Memory: Tezuka’s untimely display of affection makes Fuji unravel.
Warmly clad revelers strolled down the illuminated path, bedazzled by the breathtaking splendor of the surrounding. The glimmering strands of lights wrapped every branch of the two hundred or more keyaki trees, majestically lining the avenues of Aoba-dori and Jozenji-dori. The graceful arches of starlight transformed Sendai into a fantasy land. .
Tezuka eyed the TU team huddled around Fuji, clipboard on hand with the walking map of the district. He noticed the man next to him was the Korean transfer student who once attempted to make a hit on his beloved, Sung-min, setting up the tripod with a digital camera. The rest of the male students concentrated on listening to Fuji’s instructions.
The two females, dressed in festive winter wear, gawked at the male students while pretending to review the script on their mitt covered hands. More than once Tezuka caught the females ogling at him as well followed by spouts of giggles. He glanced at them once, twice and nodded, the third time, he simply leered at the flirting females – sending them a message –“Not interested.”
Of course, the moments when the tennis player focused away from Fuji, his changed stance did not go unnoticed. Each time he turned to observe the females, the pair of blue eyes glinted towards his way and the third time, Tezuka felt a sudden rush of coldness directed towards him. When he glanced at Fuji, he caught the slits of blue veering away from his direction, and he understood. He maintained his detachment, waiting to lock eyes with the artist. When it happened, the cerulean blues didn’t seem as cold as it left his eyes earlier. Tezuka gave him a wink, in seconds, red painted the artist's cheeks.
The Korean student dashed a look to Tezuka’s direction, rather not approving the blush that suddenly emanated on Fuji’s face. Tezuka glared at Sung-min, a warning, he sent to him – “Back off, he’s mine.”
Once again, Fuji caught the look Tezuka gave his colleague. The guilty one kept his glowering eyes at the Korean student who challenged his focus with a matching scowl. He saw Fuji smack the clipboard on his colleague’s chest whichabruptly ended the staring rivalry. The artist pounded directly towards his direction. His placidity marked on his face.
“Kunimitsu, are you enjoying the scenery?” Fuji asked, keeping his complacent smile while standing next to the tennis player.
“Very much,” the taller man curtly answered, “are you cold?”
“Comfortable,” the artist replied amiably, “I see the girls are enjoying your presence.”
“Ah,” Tezuka noted, “someone doesn’t seem to approve.” The rimless glasses he wore didn’t conceal his flitting glance at the disconcerted foreign student.
“I guess he thought you were flirting,” Fuji explained.
Amused, but still maintaining his stolid mask, “I was,” Tezuka confessed, turning to face the artist, brown eyes mirrored his affecton, “with you.”
The blush tainting the artist’s cheeks flushed all the way to his ears, automatically grimacing at the taller man, “Openly too,” Fuji bluffly answered, “another first for my stoic Kunimitsu.”
The artist sighed. He recalled all those times when he teased the tennis player in public and how Tezuka remained unaffected, considerably more like struggled to keep his emotions at bay.
“You don’t miss anything,” the said stoic observed, “I thought you would love it.
“I don’t want to waste time filming all night Kunimitsu,” Fuji stated, seemingly unaffected in Tezuka’s eyes.
Tezuka grunted to clear his throat, embarrassed by his untimely display of affection, “I was careless.”
Fuji closed his eyes for a moment in an attempt to regain his composure then shook his head. He imitated Tezuka’s rock demeanor and remembered that his seriousness could be exhausting. “No, you were not I was, and I do like it when you flirt with me, just don’t do it while I’m working” he smiled bashfully, “I don’t think I could will myself to remain unaffected when it’s you.”
Tezuka cracked a slight grin, “As you wish, Syuusuke.”
They heard Sung-min calling and Fuji returned to his group to begin filming the evening’s documentary. Tezuka smiled within, overjoyed by Fuji’s unexpected revelation. The discoveries that unfolded, untimely it may seem with him, plotted at most times when it comes to his Syuusuke, came appreciated because they aimed for the same purpose --- declaring their love for one another.
Tezuka realized it now, there’s no right or wrong way to loving Fuji, but timing plays an essential part. Needless to say, when it comes to Fuji, there are no rules, Tezuka’s disadvantage and enjoyment. For him, Fuji’s randomness is the savory ingredient spicing up their relationship.
