Shuga gazed at the far horizon which was slowly curtained by the thick mist creeping from behind the mountains. Guilt invaded his heavy heart. He realized his discovery of the water spirit in Chagam’s body have caused the Mikado to order his own son’s murder. It took the Emperor’s secret army numerous attempts but eventually succeeded in killing the second prince. A fire at the Empress’ house killed Chagam and the woman who saved him from drowning during an almost completed attempt on his life. However, there’s no proof of death after the fire, as Chagam’s and the woman’s body was not located among the ashes.

Despite the ostentatious burial ceremony, the stars as Shuga observed that evening, still forewarned him of the approaching drought that should have been stopped with Chagum’s sacrifice of his young life. The handsome star reader wondered if he actually died. But Shuga trusts the constellations above, and he believes the prince is somewhere safely protected by the female bodyguard.

He lifted his eyes to the glimmering lights slowly appearing in the darkening sky and hoped for Chagam’s safety. In a way he was relieved, Chagam living outside the palace would allow him to see the kingdom with his own eyes, learn about his people and grow up with an understanding of the commoner’s life. It would be quite an adventure travelling through the different villages in the kingdom. Chagam just needs to stay alive.

‘Be strong my prince. I will find a way to save you.’
