The first time Danny had his eyes upon him, he also had his loaded Glock aimed at his chest and his finger on the trigger, ready to fire. The tall, handsome stubborn man had his own gun aimed at him as well. They both danced around each other, with words of negotiations, but none of which could make either to back off.

 He hated his guts, his cocky stubbornness, the way he looked at him more like checked him out and to top it, the nerve of using the Governor’s office to take over the investigation of his father’s murder, his case. Recalling the moment of their first meeting still makes his blood boil.

“What’s the matter Danno?” Querying green eyes watched him while waiting for his response.

“I hated you from day one, you know that?” Danny answered gripping on the steering wheel like he’s ready to yank it out of the car’s front panel. It was all the former New Jersey cop could do to restrain himself from reaching out and touch the man sitting next to him.

‘I finally found something that changed my mind… You have no choice. I am making you my partner!’

Danny recalled moments from that unforgettable first day. ‘You are my back-up…’

“Liar!” Steve gazed at him warmly. “You love me, you know that!”

“Ok Mr. GI Joe, if you say so.” Danny smiled, avoiding Steve’s gaze. The man simply knew how to make him melt.

“You’re stuck with me, Danno.”

Danny couldn’t agree more, but he won’t acknowledge it. He didn’t need to have another person aside from his daughter, Grace, to have some kind of string control over him. With just a look from his warm green eyes, Danny simply goes crazy and when Steve smiles at him, he’s done for.

“Like a curse.”

“That's what I am to you,” Steve noted sadly.

“As a matter of fact, it’s amazing what a look and a smile could do to a person.” Danny stated nonchalantly.

“Is that why you’re avoiding my gaze?” Steve queried curtly.

“I’m driving the car, hello?” Danny turned and looked at him quickly.

“Pull over and let me kiss you.”

“No can do, sweetheart!” Danny replied smoothly.

“You’re right,” Steve smiled. “I’d rather wait until we get home.”
